📢 **Yap State R&D Conference 2026 Kicks Off with Strong Community Engagement**

On Tuesday, June 23, the Yap State Government’s Department of Resources and Development (R&D) officially launched the first day of its four-day inaugural Yap State R&D Conference 2026 at the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Conference Room in Dinay.
The conference opened with encouraging remarks from Governor Francis Itimai, who called on participants to actively engage throughout the event and share valuable feedback to help guide the future work of the Department. R&D Director Bernard Gorong welcomed attendees, expressed appreciation to the conference sponsors, and highlighted the importance of creating a platform for open dialogue among government leaders, development partners, stakeholders, and the community as Yap charts its path forward.
Participants benefited from a series of insightful presentations, including an update from conference sponsor FSMPC-Vital on fuel supply, fuel pricing, and future plans.
The afternoon session focused on the Division of Commerce and Industry (C&I), chaired by Division Chief Tony Rutmag. Panelists from the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), FSM Development Bank, and Bank of Guam led engaging discussions on Yap’s business environment, current challenges, and opportunities for growth and improvement.
Day One concluded with informative presentations and discussions on business startups, corporations, licensing, and investment opportunities.
