Yap FM - As of August 19, the Department of Health has issued health advisories regarding newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 and flu.
According to the advisories, laboratory testing has confirmed new cases of both COVID-19 and flu. The most commonly reported symptoms include cough, runny nose, sore throat, and sneezing. Although COVID-19 and flu can cause similar symptoms, COVID-19 may also cause loss of taste or smell and, in some cases, more serious breathing problems.
Community Health Centers and outpatient departments continue to report flu cases. However, health officials noted that additional cases may be present in the community but have not yet been identified through health centers or hospitals. As a result, the actual number of COVID-19 and flu cases in the community may be higher than the number currently reported and remains unknown.
This highlights the importance of monitoring symptoms, seeking medical care when necessary, and taking precautions to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses.
