Yap Student Organization Hosts Yap Congressional Delegation for Student Engagement

Yap FM - On Friday, September 25th, members of the Yap Student Organization (YSO) at the College of Micronesia–FSM National Campus welcomed Chairman Andy P. Choor of the Judiciary and Governmental Operations Committee (J&GO) and staff of the Yap Congressional Delegation for a meeting with Yapese students following the adjournment of the Fifth Regular Session of the 24th FSM Congress.

The meeting provided YSO members with an opportunity to engage directly with their congressional representatives and receive updates on matters addressed during the recent session of Congress. Students also had the opportunity to raise questions and share concerns regarding issues affecting Yap State, higher education, and the experiences of Yapese students pursuing their education away from home.

YSO members welcomed the opportunity for open dialogue with the delegation, noting the importance of maintaining communication between Yapese students and their elected representatives. The discussion allowed students to gain a better understanding of current governmental priorities while providing an avenue for their perspectives and concerns to be heard.

The visit also highlighted the importance of youth engagement in public affairs and the role students can play in shaping the future of Yap and the Federated States of Micronesia.

YSO expresses its appreciation to Chairman Choor and the staff of the Yap Congressional Delegation for taking the time to meet with Yapese students and for providing an opportunity for meaningful dialogue between the delegation and the student community.
